✅ Where is Vietnam located, and what are its main highlights?

1. In Vietnam, you can explore three distinct regions of Vietnam, each with its own unique geography, climate, culture, and breathtaking landscapes.

2. Travel between regions by airplane for convenience, or opt for a train journey to enjoy the scenery—though it requires more time.

3. In just a short trip, you can experience the full diversity of Vietnam's natural and cultural wonders, including: majestic mountains, limestone formations, serene beaches, winding rivers, enchanting caves, terraced rice fields, peaceful countryside, vibrant cities, stunning waterfalls, ancient temples, exciting water sports, captivating cultural activities, and an incredible variety of delicious cuisine.

✅ Is life and society in Vietnam complex? Is it safe and easy to travel with children or elderly family members, or as a solo traveler?

Vietnam offers a safe and wholesome social environment, consistently ranked as one of the world’s safest, easiest, and most affordable travel destinations. Vietnamese people are often recognized as some of the most optimistic and welcoming individuals in the world.

The country enjoys stability with no riots, wars, significant political disputes, or notable social issues.

We’ve proudly served many young travelers, including solo volunteers as young as 20 years old, who felt safe and comfortable exploring Vietnam.

In Vietnam, nearly every destination is accessible by car, making it an ideal choice for travelers of all ages and needs—whether they are seniors, wheelchair users, or families with infants.

✅ Are the costs affordable, and is the quality guaranteed?

1. In Vietnam, the cost of entrance tickets, guides, and transportation is moderate, especially compared to neighboring countries such as Cambodia and Thailand, where ticket prices are generally lower. However, some attractions, like Cable Cars or Water Parks such as Aquatopia, fall into the mid-to-high price range.

2. As a developing region with significant potential for investment and construction, hotel prices in Vietnam are not as stable as those in other countries. In some cities and provinces, prices are notably lower compared to popular tourist destinations like Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Hoi An. Conversely, in cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh, while the price can be similar, the quality of facilities may not meet the same standards. For example, a 4-star hotel in Da Nang may cost $40 per night and offer more amenities and space compared to a 4-star hotel in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh at the same price.

At Truly Voyage, we always ask for your budget per night to select the best options within your desired price range. Additionally, we encourage you to share your preferences, whether it’s a hotel with spacious rooms, a pool, central location, or a combination of these features—since prices and offerings can vary greatly.

Our Commitment: We will always provide you with a clean, safe hotel with English-speaking staff, located either in or near the center, with windows that offer natural light and a pleasant view. We will never book accommodations without windows or those without sufficient lighting.

3. All of our guides have over 5 years of experience.

4. Our transportation fleet consists of vehicles under 5 years old, maintained to the highest standards. While drivers may not speak fluent English, they are professional, courteous, and always maintain a respectful demeanor. If this standard is not met, please feel free to contact Vani at +84 888 555 908 or Tim at +84 886 288 898, and we will promptly arrange a replacement vehicle or guide for you.

5. The restaurants we select are certified for food safety, specializing in international clientele. Many of our chosen restaurants have Michelin certification or Michelin-selected status, offering unique and authentic Vietnamese culinary experiences.

+ Power Adapter: Bring a universal adapter or one compatible with Vietnam’s outlets (Type A, C, or G sockets, 220V).
+ Cash: Carry Vietnamese Dong (VND) for local transactions, recommended amount 500,000-1,000,000 VND/day/person depend on your needs of spending; ATMs are widely available.

+ Travel Insurance: Ensure coverage for medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and lost belongings.
+ Hat or Cap: Essential for protection from the sun.
Mental Preparations
+ Traffic and Drivers: Expect chaotic traffic. Many drivers don’t speak English and may appear strict, but they mean no harm.
+ Drinking Water: Always drink bottled or boiled water to avoid health issues.
+ Food Preferences: Feel free to request blanched herbs or greens if you’re not accustomed to eating raw vegetables.
+ Hospitality: Vietnamese people are generally warm and cheerful. Enjoy their smiles and friendliness.
+ Street Vendors: Avoid buying from street vendors as prices can be high. Shop with the help of a guide or a local for fair prices.
+ Transportation: Use ride-hailing apps like Grab or Xanh SM for reliable and safe transportation. Avoid unregistered taxis. Hotel, restaurant, or café staff can help you book these services.
+ Safety for Belongings: Always keep your passport, phone, and wallet in a chest pouch or waist bag. Be cautious about leaving items on tour buses, as these vehicles often serve multiple clients.
+ Lost Items: Stay calm and contact Truly Voyage’s travel agent for support in recovering lost belongings.
By preparing both physically and mentally, you’ll have a more enjoyable and stress-free experience exploring Vietnam!

✅ Can I pay with USD in Vietnam?

+ In hotels and agencies, you can pay in USD, but for regular shopping or street vendors, you’ll need to use VND notes. Be mindful of the 500,000 VND note, the largest denomination, which is quite similar in appearance to the 20,000 VND note. Each dollar is approximately 25,000 VND, making the 500,000 note roughly equivalent to nearly $20.

In major cities in Vietnam, you can easily pay by card and withdraw cash. However, when paying by card, there is usually a fee of 3-5%, which may be included in the total price by the vendor, but the fee is still accounted for. Additionally, there is a fee for withdrawing money.

Vietnam is increasingly popular for online payment systems like Paypal, Onepay, and 9pay. You can make advance payments without any hassle. Ensure your bank has international transactions activated, especially through 9pay, so your transaction is not blocked.

For exchanging currency, in addition to banks, you can also change money at jewelry shops.

✅ Can I bargain when shopping in Vietnam, and how do I go about it?

1. In marts, malls, and supermarkets, you cannot bargain.

2. However, in local stores, shops, and from street vendors, bargaining is common. You can start at half the price and go up to 75% of the highest offer, then pay.

3. Essentials like water, drinks, chewing gums, toiletries, and baked goods are not subject to bargaining.

4. Note:

+ Avoid bargaining during the first three days of the Lunar New Year holiday (dates vary each year; check with Truly).
+ Avoid bargaining very early in the morning.
+ Bargaining Phrase: GIẢM GIÁ CHÚT ĐI, LÀM ƠN MÀ.

✅ During Vietnam holidays, are travel costs higher, and are many places closed? What are the holidays that impact tour and hotel prices?

1. New Year's Eve and New Year Day (Tết Dương Lịch)
December 31 and January 1
2. Lunar New Year (Tết Nguyên Đán)
Late January or early February (varies by lunar calendar): Vietnam's most significant holiday, typically lasting 5-7 days, including the last day of the old year and the first days of the new lunar year.
3. April 30: Marks the fall of Saigon in 1975 and the reunification of North and South Vietnam.
4. International Labor Day (Ngày Quốc Tế Lao Động): May 1
5. September 2: Commemorates the proclamation of Vietnam’s independence in 1945. Starting in 2021, employees are entitled to an extra day off adjacent to this date.
6. Christmas Eve and Christmas days: December 24 and December 25
7. Laos and Cambodia holidays

✅ What scams might occur, and how can I avoid them?

+ Scams on unlicensed taxis: It is not recommended to take taxis flagged down on the street. Instead, ask locals to book a Grab/Xanh SM ride, as these services have a record of rides and provide reliable pricing. Licensed taxis tend to charge higher fares or take longer routes to increase the fare.
+ Scams with street vendors: Many street vendors, such as those selling bánh rán or sliced fruits, may offer you a small sample with a friendly smile. After trying, they may charge a significant amount for the sample tasting.
+ Scams with individuals inviting you to dine: Many students or locals might approach you at places like Hoàn Kiếm Lake to practice English. While some genuinely want to practice, others may invite you to a restaurant and then split the bill. After the meal, you might find the bill much higher than expected. To avoid this, you can still have conversations in English, but avoid dining at unfamiliar places. Opt for restaurants with good reviews and pre-set prices to avoid surprises.
+ The official government website for applying for an eVisa is https://evisa.gov.vn/. Ensure that you use this link, as there are many fake websites online that may claim to offer eVisa services.

✅ What is included in the package, and what do I need to book myself?

+ The Truly Voyage package includes airport transfers, tour within the region with a guide, entrance tickets, meals (excluding some tours where meals are not provided—please check the tour description), accommodation, domestic flight tickets, and basic travel insurance.

+ You can purchase international flight tickets on your own (contact Truly Voyage if you would like us to assist with booking), eVisa (you can apply online at https://evisa.gov.vn or Truly Voyage can provide eVisa services—please contact us for more details), and a more comprehensive travel insurance (we recommend purchasing this in advance before your trip).

✅ How many people are there in a group tour?

Truly Voyage exclusively organizes small group tours (12 people or fewer) for the best travel experience. The only exception is for Ha Long cruises, where some cruises may accommodate up to 80 guests on board.

✅ I noticed that some packages do not include lunch or dinner. How can I arrange meals myself?

Truly Voyage does not include all meals, especially dinner, to provide more flexibility and reduce the overall package price. Our travellers can easily access good dining options just a short walk (50-500 meters) from the hotels, as all accommodations arranged by Truly Voyage are located in the heart of tourist areas and city centers. This allows travellers to enjoy a variety of top-rated restaurants, local specialties, and budget-friendly options. Additionally, it provides an opportunity to explore popular TikTok and YouTube recommended eateries.
For further restaurant recommendations in each city/region, feel free to contact Truly Voyage.

✅ Are there any recommended departure and arrival times for flights?

Truly Voyage organizes tours daily, allowing you to start on any day that suits your schedule. All packages are flexible and can easily be reversed without affecting the price—e.g., a North-to-South route can be adjusted to a South-to-North itinerary with the same activities and inclusions, without any additional cost.

Recommendation: For long flights (over 8 hours) or late arrivals, consider the first and last days as free days to relax and recover. Additionally, some events occur only on weekends, so if you want to experience them, check the schedule—such as the Dragon Fire on Dragon Bridge in Da Nang, which takes place only on Saturday and Sunday nights.
