The Ultimate 14-Day Vietnam Odyssey: From North to South with Truly Voyage

Have you ever looked at a map of Vietnam ~ stretching over 1,600 kilometers from the jagged northern mountains to the lush southern delta, and wondered, "How can I possibly cover all of this?"

I get it! You want the iconic sights, the most “bang-for-your-buck” value out of your trip. We've crafted a 14-day journey that flows perfectly from the mist of the north to the sunshine of the south. Grab a coffee, and let me show you how Truly Voyage does it.

Day 1: Hello, Hanoi! Cinematic Vibes & Street Food

Your adventure begins the moment your private driver meets you at the airport. After a 45-minute drive, you’ll arrive in the heart of the Old Quarter. Once you've settled in, we’ll take you on a 3-hour evening food tour. You’ll tuck into smoky Bún Chả (BBQ pork with fragrant lemongrass), crispy Bánh Mỳ, and the legendary, creamy Egg Coffee

You’ll even witness the thrill of "Train Town," ever enjoyed coffee less than a meter from a speeding train? Well today you can check this off your bucket list (whether you have it or not).

Nightfall and the party of lights begin, let us end the day with a nostalgic 30-minute Cyclo ride through the glowing colonial streets.

Day 2: Ninh Binh – The Fairy Tale of "Ha Long on Land"

Leaving the buzz of Hanoi behind, a 2-hour drive takes you to the serene "Ha Long Bay on Land." We’re heading two hours south to a place that looks like it was plucked from a movie set. Bring your climbing shoes because today we will take on the 500 steps for a view that will leave you breathless?

The hike up Mua Cave offers a panoramic view of the winding Ngo Dong River below. After exploring Hoa Lu, the ancient capital, you’ll hop on a small rowboat. In May and June, Tam Coc is a sea of yellow rice fields; the rest of the year, Trang An offers a tranquil journey through limestone grottoes. To prepare for the next chapter, enjoy a 30-minute massage at Amora Spa before boarding your night train or bus to the mountains.

Day 3: Sapa – Trekking Through Emerald Clouds

Wake up in the cool, crisp air of the northern highlands. As the sun rises over the Hoang Lien Son range, you’ll arrive in Sapa!

After breakfast, your guide will lead you into the Muong Hoa Valley. You’ll trek through the villages of Lao Chai and Ta Van, where the Black Hmong people maintain traditions as old as the mountains. The rice terraces here are like giant green stairs carved into the mountainside

~ a true photographer’s paradise. Night arrives bringing an enchanting layer of mist, lets walk around the shimmering Sapa Lake and try some local street snacks like grilled sweet potatoes. Does anything sound more divine than a traditional herbal foot soak after a day of mountain trekking?

Day 4: Sapa – The Roof of Indochina or Hidden Falls

Today is all about your choice of beauty. Choose your perspective. Will you stand on the "Roof of Indochina" by taking the cable car to Fansipan Peak, or find peace at the Silver and Love Waterfalls? The Silver Waterfall offers a dramatic view of the valley, while the Love Waterfall is a lush, forest-framed sanctuary.  After a local lunch, you’ll bid farewell to the mountain mist and board a luxury cabin bus back to Hanoi, arriving just in time for a restful night.

Day 5: Ha Long Bay – A Night of Sparkling Seas

From the mountains to the sea! We whisk you away to the coast for a cruise through the world-famous Ha Long Bay. Picture thousands of limestone pillars rising out of emerald waters. You’ll spend the afternoon kayaking through the hidden waters of Trà Báu. Have you ever enjoyed a seafood feast on a deck while the sea sparkles like a starry sky? For the adventurous, try mackerel fishing under the moonlight before drifting off to sleep in your floating hotel.

Day 6: Lan Ha Bay to the Royal City of Hue

Would you wake up early for a 5-minute Tai Chi session on the vast, calm sea? It’s the ultimate way to greet the day. After exploring the mysterious Sung and Tối (Dark & Bright) caves, you’ll enjoy a final brunch on board. Your Truly Voyage driver will be waiting at the harbor to take you to the airport for a flight (or a cozy soft-sleeper train) to Hue, the "City of Nostalgia."

Day 7: Hue – The Echoes of Ancient Emperors

Hue touches the heart like nowhere else. You’ll spend the day exploring the Imperial City, where 13 generations of emperors lived. You’ll feel the weight of history as your guide shares stories of royal life that might even move you to tears. After a Royal Dragon Boat ride to the seven-story Thiên Mụ Pagoda, you’ll visit the imperial tombs to bask yourself in ancient, imperial history.

Day 8: The Hai Van Pass & Marble Mountain

Today, the scenery changes again as we head to Da Nang. Whether you take the Heritage Train or a private car over the Hai Van Pass, the views of white sand beaches and dramatic curves are world-class. In the afternoon, we’ll explore Marble Mountain. Are you ready to discover hidden Buddha statues and the dramatic Am Phu Cave tucked deep inside these hills? You’ll end the day in the quiet comfort of your hotel, overlooking the ocean.

Day 9: Ba Na Hills – Walking Above the Clouds

Do you know folks in Vietnam also have our own Disney Land? Today you are about to see it for yourself! We’ll take the world’s strongest cable car up to Ba Na Hills to see the iconic Golden Bridge ~ Held aloft by two giant stone-carved hands. Beyond the bridge, you’ll find a charming French Village, the vibrant Linh Ung Pagoda, and flower gardens that look like a little piece of Europe in Vietnam. After a massive buffet lunch, we’ll drive you down to the enchanting town of Hoi An.

Day 10: Hoi An – Lanterns, Cooking, and Coconut Forests

Today is about the peaceful rural life of Central Vietnam. We’ll glide through the Cam Thanh coconut forest in a traditional bamboo basket boat. You’ll try your hand at crab fishing and watch a fun basket-boat performance! After a cooking show and a 7-dish local feast, we’ll head to Hoi An Ancient Town. As night falls, the town glows with thousands of silk lanterns. Will you release a flower lantern into the river and make a wish?

Day 11: Ho Chi Minh City – A Journey Back in Time

A short flight brings you to the vibrant energy of Saigon ~ our “Diamond of the Far East”. After checking in, we’ll travel back in time at the Cu Chi Tunnels. Can you imagine living in a 250km hand-dug underground world? You’ll hear stories of ingenious tactics and soldiers' resilience that no museum book can capture. You’ll return to the city by 18:00 to enjoy the modern nightlife of this Southern metropolis.

Day 12: Mekong Delta – The Authentic Waterways

Truly Voyage prides itself on taking you where the crowds aren't. While most go to touristy My Tho, we take you to the heart of the delta: Cai Be and Vinh Long. You’ll enjoy a long, peaceful 1.5-hour boat ride through lush fruit orchards and narrow, winding canals. Tonight is special, you’ll stay in a traditional stilt house homestay, experiencing the quiet, rhythmic charm of the Mekong’s waterway communities.

Today, Truly Voyage takes you off the beaten path! While most go to touristy My Tho, we take you to the heart of the delta: Cai Be and Vinh Long. You’ll enjoy a peaceful 1.5-hour boat ride through lush fruit orchards and narrow canals and trade city lights for a night in a traditional stilt house homestay. This is the quiet charm of the Mekong’s waterway communities, where you’ll share a meal and a smile with the locals who call this river home.

Day 13: The Last Floating Market

We’re going the extra mile (literally!) by taking you 38km further to Cái Răng. This is the last remaining authentic floating market in Vietnam. Have you ever bought your morning coffee or a slice of pineapple from one boat to another? It’s a vibrant, colorful symphony of local life that you have to see to believe before we head back to the buzz of Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 14: Farewell, Vietnam!

Your journey comes to an end with a private transfer to the airport. You’re leaving with more than just souvenirs—you’re leaving with a new perspective and memories of a land that has truly welcomed you.

A Part of You Stays Behind

As you look out the plane window at the patchwork of green rice fields and winding rivers, a strange feeling might wash over you. You’ll remember the way the morning mist felt on your skin in Sapa, the precise moment the lanterns flickered to life in Hoi An, and the genuine, toothy smile of the boat lady in Ninh Binh who didn't speak your language but shared her heart anyway.

In just two weeks, your team at Truly Voyage ~ from the drive, your guides, to your operator team will know exactly how you liked your coffee. Your homestay host in the Mekong became the "Auntie" who made sure you were never hungry. You came to see the "famous spots," but we will make sure you're leaving the country feeling like you have a home here.

Vietnam has so much more to show you.
